Grafting Sign-up 2025 is now open!
I am delighted to let you know that the grafting classes for 2025 are now open for registration. We will be grafting on the following Saturdays from 10am to 1pm: March 8, March 15, March 22, March 29, April 19, and April 26. Registration is required, and the registration form is located on my website www.wilbournhouseorchard.com under “forms”
You will be asked for your name, email address, phone number, choice of rootstock, and how you wish to pay. If you would like additional stock, please note it in the comment section.
As in 2024, each participant will be selecting their own rootstock and apple variety, as well as preparing their scion, grafting to rootstock, and taking their tree home. You can select up to three trees total for each grafting date. The first tree, materials, education, and enrollment is $30 per person. Additional trees up to 3 total per event are available at $15 per additional tree. Space permitting, you can attend just to listen at no charge.

We will spend a significant amount of time discussing safety, as well as offering tools which can be used for grafting in lieu of a traditional grafting knife. You can also request that I graft your tree for you. During this class, we will be using the easiest and safest grafting technique, the cleft graft. No experience is necessary. Grafters at last year’s classes had excellent results and most had no experience prior to the class.
We will be using a combination of outdoor and greenhouse grafting, weather depending. This year I am trying to limit each class to 6 participants, although I can make an exception for some reasons if you contact me directly.
I am attaching a list of available varieties so that you might review the list ahead of time and consider what apple trees might be best for you. The varieties are listed alphabetically and information about each one is included. If the variety is available this year, the number of scions (pieces for grafting) are listed on the left side of the form. You will still have plenty of time to decide the variety for your tree on the day of the event. There are seven pages, so don’t feel obligated to print all the information. You can also pay by cash, check, or credit card at the event, or using PayPal. Your PayPal address will allow me to send you an invoice for payment.
Allow about 20-25 minutes to drive from Lexington. You can park alongside the road, or follow the signs to park in the field. I can assist you with getting over to the event from the road by golf cart. Heavy rain will cancel and I will notify you on the day before the event. You can reschedule on another date or receive a full refund.
Last year we had a great time, and this year looks to be just as fun. I hope you can graft with us again!
